Finally, finally, my fake engagement collection is complete. Check it out here: www.amazon.com/dp/B08TB2BQ7M
I started this collection two years ago when I was pregnant with Emmy. I’ve always liked the saying “Something Old, New, Borrowed, and Blue” and I wanted to try my hand at following a popular romance trope people love. Writing, revising, and publishing each book was difficult in their own ways. There were many trials and errors through this whole process, but I learned invaluable lessons throughout. I want to share a few of the writing lessons and accomplishments that occurred throughout the two years.
-Writing a collection instead of a series is confusing for some readers. Some are wanting to see the same characters in book two that they met in book one, but a collection is very different than a series.
-While in the publishing process of the four books, I wrote six other books. I probably could’ve focused better by writing and then publishing one book before moving on.
-I learned how to format my own books and made connections with people who know more about the publishing process than me 🙂
-Make sure you know what files you are uploading. If you have four files that say “Something” at the beginning, make sure you look at the last part of the file name. (I uploaded the wrong book on launch day….twice)
-I created this website during this process.
As you can see, writing this collection has been my best writing experience thus far. I am adding a novella for Rachel and Dave’s story in book 3 of the collection, but that won’t come out for a few more months. Stay tuned!
